Happy Tuesday everyone! Sadly, there’s no theme to this week’s blog posts, but I hope you enjoyed Unpopular and Popular Opinions Weeks. I had a lot of fun doing them, so I might do something similar at some point.
Today is time for another Tag Tuesday and today I’m doing the Bookish Academy Awards! Thank you very much to Hanna for tagging me to do this tag!! Please go and give her blog a follow if you don’t already. She has three adorable kids and still manages to read and blog and be an overall great person.
Best Actor: Best male protagonist
This one was harder than I expected because it turns out I don’t read a ton of books with male protagonists, and of the ones I do, they tend to be fairly bland. But I’m going to go with Pi Patel from Life of Pi. He’s such a great and charming protagonist.
Best Actress: Best female protagonist
Evelyn Hugo from the Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo. Are we shocked? No.
Best Cinematography: Best plot twist
Morning Star by Pierce Brown. I could’ve put the entire Red Rising series, but the ending of Morning Star has some of the best (in my opinion) plot twists ever.
Best Costume Design: Best book cover
We all know I love many book covers, but the paperback cover of Homegoing is one of the most gorgeous I’ve ever seen.
Best Supporting Actress and Actor: Best Male and Female Sidekick
Male sidekick: Sevro from Red Rising
Female sidekick: Nimona from Nimona (I know she’s the titular person, but she’s literally the sidekick)
Best Original Screenplay: Most Unique Plot/World
Even though it wasn’t my favourite series, A Darker Shade of Magic has some of the best world-building and most interesting magic system.
Best Adapted Screenplay: Best book-to-movie adaptation
Pass, because I haven’t seen any lately that deserve a shoutout!
Best Animated Feature: A book that would work well in animated format
Skullduggery Pleasant by Derek Landy. I mean, he’s a skeleton. I think it would make such a cute animated TV show!
Best Director: A writer you discovered for the first time
Kazuo Ishiguro. I’ve only read one of his books, but it definitely won’t be the last.
Best Short Film: Best Novella or Short-Book
Hunger by Lan Samantha Chang. The titular novella was so good and I highly recommend it.
Best Picture: Best Stand-Alone
Of what I’ve read in 2018, Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng. And it has a gorgeous cover!
Best Documentary: Best historical fiction
I’m straight up stealing Hanna’s answer and saying Salt to the Sea by Ruta Sepetys.
I’ve seen this tag floating around, so I’m not going to tag anyone. But please let me know if you do it! I would love to see your answers!
Thank you again to Hanna for tagging me! And thank you all for reading! xx
An animated tv series of Skulduggery Pleasant will be great!!

My copy isn’t nearly as pretty as that one!

Me neither! We have the hardback version, which is still pretty, but not nearly that pretty

I have one of the paperback copies, but not that one. Makes me want it, though.

I’ve wanted to read Homegoing for such a long time anyway but after seeing that cover I want to buy it even more, ugh!
And I apparently really need to get my hands on Morning Star, plot twists are so my thing *-*

And yes, definitely!!! The whole series is full of plot twists, but Morning Star was my favourite!
