Top Ten Tuesday November 27: Platonic Relationships In Books

Happy Tuesday everyone!!

It has been a minute and a half since I did a Top Ten Tuesday, which you can learn more about here! Today the topic is Platonic Relationships In Books. I love a good platonic relationship, there’s just something so wholesome about them.

Harry and Luna from Harry Potter

Harry and Luna are an underrated friendship tbh. They have such a great relationship and it’s so sweet and wholesome.

Sirius and Lupin from Harry Potter

Sirius and Lupin are such bros and I love them. I love how supportive they are with each other.

The girls in the Butterfly Garden from The Butterfly Garden by Dot Hutchinson

The only wholesome thing about this book was the friendships portrayed. All the girls are so supportive of each other and want to help each other as much as they can. It was one of the best parts of the book.

Sunja and her sister-in-law from Pachinko by Min Jin Lee

One of the things I was most grateful about in this book was the portrayal of women and relationships. I was bracing for girl-on-girl hate when Sunja came to her new home, and instead her sister-in-law becomes one of her best friends and supporters. And it made me so happy!!! They’re so supportive and loving towards each other and it was one of the things I appreciated most about this book.

Starr and her parents from The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas

I love the family relationships in this book, especially between Starr and her parents. I think it really adds to the story and I love them.

Pearl and May from Shanghai Girls by Lisa See

They’re sisters, and again so loving and supportive. I loved how even when they didn’t like each other, they still loved each other, you know?

Alex and Peekay from The Female of the Species by Mindy McGinnis

I loved both Alex and Peekay and I loved watching their friendship develop. It was so sweet and they were such great friends to each other.

Katniss and Finnick from the Hunger Games trilogy by Suzanne Collins

Ughhhh I love Katniss and Finnick together. They’re the BEST. Don’t even talk to me about Mockingjay.

Nimona and Ballister Blackheart from Nimona by Noelle Stevenson

Nimona and Blackheart have the best friendship. The best. It’s so good and funny, and it’s honestly worth reading just for them.

Tunstall and Clary from Beka Cooper by Tamora Pierce

GUYS Tunstall and Clary are like the power team. I love the two of them together and individually, and they’re such great characters.

I think that platonic relationship in my country were once the example to model for teens and young people but now it’s becoming a really a notion that is wasted on the millennial young people really don’t read the kind of books your recommending and what’s on cable and on the net is taking over from where traditional family values left off

  7. This is such a good list! I loved seeing Sunja and her sister in law and Pearl and May on here. SUCH great relationships between women. And I definitely also agree about The Butterfly Garden and The Female of the Species.

    1. Yes, they’re so great!!! It was honestly so refreshing in Pachinko how well they got along. In all of them really, kept on waiting for someone to turn catty, and it never happened and it was such a relief (though it’s so sad that I was expecting it).
