Read-a-thin recap!

I participated in the first ever Read-a-thin, which you can find more information about here on their Goodreads page! It was was created by Jessica at JessicaMarie, Amanda at ACourtofBooksandLove and Chelsea at AVeryBookishGirl. The point is to read books that you’ve had sitting around for a while and read them. The goal is to complete 6 of the challenges outlined on the Goodreads page!

My challenges and how they turned out

Challenge: read a book with a warm coloured cover (orange, red, yellow, brown)
Challenge: buddy read a book (with my sister)
Book: Exit the Actress by Priya Parmar
Status: success!

I managed to read this one! My sister didn’t read it, so it doesn’t really count as a buddy read, but I did manage to read it!

Challenge: read a book set in summer
Book: the Truth About Forever by Sarah Dessen
Status: womp womp

I didn’t get around to this one 😦 I tried to prioritize the new books rather than re-reads

Challenge: read a book that is related to your favourite emoji  💁🏼
Book: the Beauty Myth by Naomi Wolf
Status: still in progress

I’m still plugging away at this one! I’m enjoying it, but I think it’ll take me a while to get through

Challenge: read a 2017 release
Book: the Hate U Give by Angie Thomas
Status: success!

I read and loved this book! It was a definite 5/5 stars for me and I’ll have a review up soon!

Challenge: read a new-to-you author
Book: A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab
Status:  success!

I finished this book and loved it! I rated it 4/5 stars and will also have a review soon!

Challenge: read a diverse book
Book: Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi
Status: womp womp

I didn’t read this book, but it’s at the top of my TBR so hopefully soon!

Challenge: Read a book outside of your favourite genre
Book: the Queen of Katwe by Tim Crothers (a memoir/nonfiction)
Status: success!

I really enjoyed this book! Again, there will be a review coming!

Overall I read 4 books, have one still in progress, and missed two books. But I completed 6 challenges!!! So overall I’m super happy with how this read-a-thon went, and I’m super excited for the next one!

Thanks for reading! xx
