Hey friends! It’s another instalment of books on my TBR! This is a series where I talk about a specific subset of books on my TBR. I’ve done a few posts of really long lists of books on my TBR, so for these posts I’m going to try to keep the list fairly small, provide the synopsis from Goodreads, and talk about where I found it and why I want to read it.
Today, I’m talking about young adult novels! I actually have quite a few I want to talk about today, so we’re not going to do Goodreads synopses, but we are going to talk about a ton of exciting books. So, let’s get into it!
You Truly Assumed by Laila Sabreen: this sounds fantastic, and so up my alley. It’s a debut by a Black Muslim author about three Black Muslim girls running a blog to discuss Islamophobia, and it sounds really great.
The Rose & the Dagger by Renée Adhieh: I just read The Wrath and the Dawn and loved it, so I’ll definitely be reading the sequel. I think I’ve just accepted that honestly, YA fantasy works better for me (sometimes). But I have this on hold at the library and am really excited to read it.
The One That Got Away by Sophie Gonzales: a bachelor-themed story with a sapphic romance? Second chance romance? Royals? Literally sign me the fuck up.
Cemetery Boys by Aiden Thomas: this book just sounds so good? I mean, a trans ghost murder mystery sounds like such a good mixture, and I’m so here for it. The wait at my library is still like five months, so it might be a while before I get to this one.
Perfect on Paper by Sophie Gonzales: this sounds like bisexual To All the Boys and The Half of It, which is everything I want tbh. It sounds like a lot of fun, and has really great reviews (except for that person on twitter who said it was the same as conversion therapy but we’re ignoring that).
Last Night at the Telegraph Club by Malinda Lo: I haven’t read Malinda Lo since I was in middle school and read Ash, but this sounds like it’d be a great reintroduction. I love historical fiction and queer historical fiction especially, so I’m really excited for this.
She Drives Me Crazy by Kelly Quindlen: this is a sapphic sports enemies to fake dating romance. Literally what more could I ask for in a YA novel? Not much. I really need my library to purchase the ebook of this ASAP.
These Violent Delights by Chloe Gong: a 1920s Shanghai queer Romeo and Juliet sounds SO GOOD, and this book has so many good reviews. I’m super excited to read this at some point (once again, the library hold is like five months so it’ll be a while).
The Ones We’re Meant to Find by Joan He: the cover of this is so stunning that, quite frankly, I would read it regardless. Luckily, it also sounds fantastic. A missing sister with no memories? A STEM prodigy? It sounds so good. I actually have this one on hold at the library and should be getting it soon, so I’m very excited to read it!
So there are some YA books on my TBR! Have you read any of these? What were your thoughts? Which should I read first? Let me know!

I’m really looking forward to seeing what you think of Cemetery Boys and Perfect on Paper! Sadly, I was really disappointed by The Ones We’re Meant to Find, but I did have a good time reading These Violent Delights.
