Hi pals and gals, happy Friday! I hope you’ve been having a great week so far.
I love talking about my favourite books, obviously. And I’ve talked about them a ton, so I feel like it’s pretty obvious what my favourite books are.
So, I thought today, I’d try a bit of a different but hopefully fun blog post. In today’s post, I will be describing some of my favourite books without talking about the title or author. I’ll also be making these descriptions as vague as possible. And then, I want y’all to guess in the comments what book they are!
So here are 20 brief and vague descriptions of some books I love.
Book 1: two twins are separated at birth, but reconnect as kids and again as teenagers. One twin is really good at math and the other is really good at language. They may or may not be somehow involved in necromancy.
Book 2: a city loses its name, and the young boy obsessed with said city becomes a librarian. As an adult, he gets the chance to visit the city and learn what happened.
Book 3: a white woman is depressed.
Book 4: may or may not be the Hunger Games x Game of Thrones in space.
Book 5: cards tell a taxi driver how to help random people. He has a dog that drinks coffee.
Book 6: a boy accidentally steals a priceless painting and then panics in different places about what to do about it. He has a dog that does not drink coffee.
Book 7: children attend boarding school and are ultimately farmed for their organs.
Book 8: a boy sits in a plum tree. This angers and confuses his classmates, who decide that a pile of important things will convince him to leave the plum tree.
Book 9: a white boy obsessed with people’s last words attends boarding school and falls in love with a girl.
Book 10: a family’s daughter is dead, but they don’t know that yet.
Book 11: a non-fiction about depression, among other things.
Book 12: a girl who has undergone a trauma decides to run across the US instead of dealing with her issues.
Book 13: not about birds, sadly, but is instead about the magic of friendship and dead welsh kings.
Book 14: sapphics at boarding school fall in love in the time of Corona.
Book 15: a fantasy with everything you could ever want: a competition, magic, being forced onto a quest with someone you don’t like but might be in love with, birds, and fashion.
Book 16: a poor gal parties with her rich best friend, who has major jealousy and control issues.
Book 17: a bisexual actress really isn’t helping the stereotypes by getting married a lot and having a lesbian lover throughout most of those marriages.
Book 18: follows two actors, one living in our world pre-covid and one living in our world post-covid if the US continues to reopen.
Book 19: a pregnant girl marries a gay guy so they can both avoid confronting these issues publicly.
Book 20: a confused queer gal has a relationship with a confused, married man. This further confuses both of them.
So, there are some books I love! Please, please, please let me know below what books you think these are! Whoever gets the most will get a shout-out in my next post or on Twitter or something. I’ll also post the answers in a couple days!
Thanks for reading xx

Book 3, lol, could be literally anything.
Book 6 I’m 100% sure about, The Goldfinch
Book 7 sounds upsetting, whatever it is.
Book 9 sounds like it’s probably Looking for Alaska, which I have no idea what it was about but John went to boarding school and is obsessed with people’s last words, so…
Book 17 is Evelyn Hugo, obvs. ❤
I had NO IDEA on the rest of them. What a fun post! Will be interested to see if people figure them out!

I’ve posted the full list in the post!
But 3 was The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath and 7 was Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro (it’s not as depressing as it sounds), and you were right about, the Goldfinch, Looking for Alaska, and Evelyn Hugo!
Thank you! 💕

No wonder I didn’t know most of them, I haven’t read most of those, lol. Fun post!

I am so bad at this!! I have no idea what any of these are 😂😂 They all sound amazing though (or you’re very good at giving short and cryptic descriptions).

Book 3 could be so many, I’m just gonna go with one of my recent reads: Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine?
Book 5: The Messenger by Markus Zusak?
Book 11: Hunger by Roxanne Gay?
Book 12: I’ve heard of, let me check my Goodreads… A Heart in a Body in the World by Deb Caletti
Book 14: The Wilder Girls?
Book 17: The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo
The question marks signal my guesses but I’m pretty sure about Book 12 and 17. This was so much harder than I thought it would be and this is such a cool idea!

Oooh Eleanor Oliphant is a good guess, but I haven’t read it yet! Book 3 was the Bell Jar!
But you got all the other guesses correct!! 😀😀

Oh, I haven’t read The Bell Jar. I’m pretty surprised I got the others right, I usually don’t fair well with riddle 🙂 This was really fun

Book #1 is Middlegame!
Book #17 is The Howevermany Husbands of Evelyn Hugo
And… beyond that I’m not sure, but I love the coffee-drinking dog dual references. Too funny. And Book #5 sounds really interesting!

Hahahaha, they’re so obvious now, especially Her Royal Highness!! I think the “in the time of Corona” threw me!!

Okay, so let me start by mentioning that I am bad at this. So:
Book 2: Strange the Dreamer
Book 4: Aurora Rising (maybe, I haven’t read it but I know it is set in space)
Book 15: I have no idea. I thought it was Six of Crows… but there’s no competition in SoC if I remember correctly so I don’t know
Book 17: The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo
As you can see, I am not good at this XD. This post was so fun, it definitely was a fantastic idea! But now I really need to know your favorite 20 books. I NEED ANSWERS!
