Happy Tuesday, gals and pals! Two weeks in a row that I’ve done Top 5 Tuesday! 🎉 🎉 Top 5 Tuesday is a weekly meme created by the lovely Shanah at the Bionic Bookworm. You can visit here for the upcoming topics!
Today the topic is series I want to start. This topic was kind of hard because I’m generally not drawn to series, so there isn’t very many on my TBR. But, I managed to find five! I also focused on series where I intend to read more than the first book. I have some books that are technically a series, but I don’t necessarily plan to read more than the first book, so I didn’t count those.
Dune by Frank Herbert: this is just a classic that a lot of people talk about. My brother’s high school English teacher gave it to my brother to learn about world-building, and my brother said the world-building was really good. So I’m looking forward to that aspect of it, even if everything else sucks.
The Fifth Season by NK Jemisin: everyone seems to love Jemisin’s writing. Mara Wilson, Matilda herself, said her books were fantastic. So I really want to read this one at some point. I bought my best friend a copy for Christmas, so maybe I’ll steal it.
The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson: honestly, largely the same as Dune. I feel like I’m the only person who hasn’t read this book yet.
The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss: same as The Final Empire tbh.
The Book of Dust by Philip Pullman: I loved the Golden Compass so much, and will probably read anything Pullman writes. I think this book has mixed reviews, but I’m still excited to read it.
So those are some series I want to start at some point! What about you? Have you read any of these? Which should I read first? Do they get better as they go, or do they get worse? Are there any series you would recommend not reading? Let me know!
Thanks for reading! xx
The Name of the Wind was a FANTASTIC book. I haven’t read the second one yet, but I definitely will some day. Hope you love all of these books!

I want to read Jemisin’s series, also. It sounds really interesting. Dune is another book that I want to read one of these days, but I don’t intend to read the whole series, just the first book, so I don’t think I’d be able to count it for this prompt. 🙂

Yes, I’ve heard nothing but good things about her books! I gave my best friend one for Christmas and definitely need to borrow it soon.
Honestly, I think same, but I wanted to include it on this list anyway 😉

I read Jemisin’s How Long ‘Til Black Future Month? and loved the short stories in that collection, so I have high hopes for her full-length novels too.

I picked up ”Dune” and read about 100 pages and never got into it, so I might have to try it again. I have not read ‘The Final Empire’ yet ‘(it was on my list this week too!) but I have read his other series and it is in my top series every, so I am excited to see what the Mistborn series is like 🙂

Hmm good to know. My brother read the first one, and said it was really slow as well.
I’m so excited to read Sanderson! Glad to hear you enjoyed his other series 🙂
