Hello, gals and pals! How is everyone holding up?
Today, I thought I’d talk a bit about the books I have on hold from the library. I’ve been using my library a ton in the past year, and am so glad I am. I’ve saved so much money and read so many books from my TBR. It’s been great.
I also wanted to talk a bit about the apps I use, in case anyone is quarantined or self-isolating and wants something to read. Most libraries will let you download audiobooks or ebooks through either OverDrive or Libby. As far as I can tell, they’re the same app with different user interfaces. Libby is better for graphic novels, I think. I use OverDrive and love it. If you need something to read without leaving your house, definitely check if you library uses one of these apps.
(also, a lot of libraries only require a postal or ZIP code for a library card, so choose your favourite restaurant and use their code if you can’t get a card for some reason)
Any way, let’s talk about the books that I’m waiting for at the library!
Catch and Kill by Ronan Farrow (audiobook)
Wait time: about 20 weeks, #179 on 18 copies
Requested on February 29, 2020
I requested this one on a whim because I heard a blogger raving about it. I always want to try more non-fiction and true crime, and this one sounded definitely up my alley.
The Turn of the Key by Ruth Ware
Wait time: about 19 weeks, #134 on 14 copies
Requested on February 29, 2020
I had actually requested this one way back in October maybe? And I got it recently, but didn’t have time to read it. School is still super busy, and I was reading other things, so I decided to return this one and re-request it. I’ve heard a ton of good things about it, and even though mystery/thrillers don’t always work for me, I’m hopeful for this one.
Say Nothing by Patrick Radden Keefe (audiobook)
Wait time: about 12 weeks, #41 on 7 copies
Requested on February 7, 2020
I know a bunch of people who love this book, and I can never find a copy at my Chapters. So I thought I’d get the audiobook to listen to. Hopefully it lives up to my expectations and I love it just as much!
Necessary People by Anna Pitoniak
Wait time: about 4 weeks, #2 on 1 copy
Requested on January 22, 2020
Funny (?) story about this book: I’d had it on hold for about two months, and it was finally released to me. And I went to return another book to the library, and the app glitched and instead returned this one. So, I had to re-request it as well. But it’s okay because I didn’t have a ton of time to read it anyway.
Serpent & Dove by Shelby Mahurin
Wait time: about 8 weeks, #27 on 7 copies
Requested on January 17, 2020
This is another I requested on a whim. I’d heard a booktuber say good things about it and thought it might be something I could like, so I figured why not. I haven’t read YA fantasy in a while, but hopefully this one is good!
Bad Feminist by Roxane Gay (audiobook)
Wait time: about 10 weeks, #16 on 3 copies
Requested on January 2, 2020
We’re big Roxane Gay fans over here, and I have yet to read this one. It sounds amazing, and I’ve enjoyed everything else she’s written. My friend Madison and I actually both have this one on hold, so we’re racing to see who gets it first.
I also currently have on loan from the library My Dark Vanessa by Kate Elizabeth Russel and Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer. I wasn’t expecting to get MDV for another few months, so it’s super exciting to have it now and I will be reading it ASAP.
But those are all the books I’m waiting for from the library! Have you read any of these? What were your thoughts? Do you have any books on hold from the library? Let me know!
Stay safe, everyone!

I have Matilda by Roald Dahl on hold via the Libby app, it’s been ages but I think there’s a massive queue for it. Hope you okay xx

Catch and Kill was so good! I got my copy from the library a month or so ago and I want to buy a copy for my shelves, but it’s sold out everywhere! I hope you end up liking it as much as I did!

These aren’t ones I’ve read, but I hope you enjoy them!
And I think it’s interesting to see the differences in app preferences. I don’t know why, but I like Libby better than Overdrive. 🙂

Thank you!
I just got used to OverDrive, but I will admit that Libby is more attractive lol

The interface for Libby just appealed to me more, but really either works! 🙂

I like Overdrive too. What’s your favorite type of book?

OverDrive is so great, I’m glad you like it as well! I’m not picky about genre, honestly, and like most things. What about you?

I don’t know if I have a favorite genre, but my favorite books include Jane Eyre, Disappointment with God, and books by Francine Rivers.
