Christmas wish list!

Happy Tuesday, pals and gals! Today is my first festive-themed post, which I’m super excited for! I love the holiday season, and though I’m not doing Blogmas this year, I still wanted to do some holiday themed posts. Today I’m talking about my Christmas wish list! These are books I asked for from my parents and one from my boyfriend because I wanted a specific cover.

Generally, I only buy physical books of books that I like the cover of. If I’m not a fan of the cover, or don’t care about the cover, I just buy the ebook because they’re usually cheaper, or I get the book from the library. So most of these books are very aesthetically pleasing, in my opinion.

This is How You Lose the Time War by Amal El-Mohtar and Max Gladstone: this one is partly a cover buy, if we’re being honest. It sounds super interesting, but I’m only buying a physical copy because of the cover.

Spin the Dawn by Elizabeth Lim: I saw this physical book in Chapters the other day and it’s more gorgeous in real life than the pictures. There’s just something about the colours and the artwork. It also sounds super interesting!

The Water Dancer by Ta-Nehisi Coates: I am so excited to read this book! I love Coates’ writing and I’m so happy he’s writing fiction now.

Moon of the Crusted Snow by Waubgeshig Rice: this is a dystopian written by a Canadian Indigenous man, and it sounds amazing.

Her Body and Other Parties by Carmen Maria Machado: I was just going through my TBR and looking for books, and thought this sounded interesting.

Self-Portrait with Boy by Rachel Lyon: I love photography, and this book is about a photographer dealing with whether to use one of her photos. It sounds so interesting and I’ve heard really good things about it.

Sabrina by Nick Drnaso: the synopsis for this book starts with “video games, conspiracy theories, breakdown, murder“, which is really a lot of my favourite things all together. I’ve heard really good things about this graphic novel, want to read more graphic novels soon, and this one has been on my TBR for ages. So it seemed fitting for this post.

The Water Cure by Sophie Mackintosh: again, the synopsis describes this as a “dystopic feminist revenge fantasy about three sisters on an isolated island” which is a lot of things I love. It’s also gotten really good reviews from my friends, and I think the cover is pretty.

Asking For It by Louise O’Neill: I’ve heard amazing things about this book, and it sounds like something I’d enjoy (not in the subject matter per se, but definitely in the themes, if that makes sense). I definitely want to read it asap as possible.

Looker by Laura Sims: mommy, if you’re reading this, don’t panic about it not being on my official list. I gave this one to Smith along with a link for him to buy the specific cover I want. Because look at that cover, I’m obsessed.

So those are the books I’m hoping to get for Christmas! Look at those covers together, I guess we’re going for a blue vibe this year. Who knew.
