Happy Tuesday, gals and pals! Today is another Top 5 Tuesday. Top 5 Tuesday is a weekly meme created by the lovely Shanah at the Bionic Bookworm. You can visit here for the upcoming topics!
This month, the topics are the alphabet! Essentially, I’m going to be giving you one book for each letter of the alphabet during this month. Today, is our last day, and the letters are UVWXYZ, which was easier than I expected.
Unwind by Neal Shusterman: I read this book last year after it being on my TBR for seven years and I’m so happy I did! It’s a fantastic YA dystopian and reminded me how much I love the genre. I cannot recommend this book enough.
Vixen by Jillian Larkin: this book is about flappers in the 1920s and it’s a lot of fun. It has almost no substance, but it has so many tropes and cliches that I love. Love to hate? Fake dating? Forbidden romance? Hidden fiancé? It’s got it all.
Women Talking by Miriam Toews: this book is completely heart-wrenching and I loved it a lot. It’s such an important and interesting topic. I highly recommend it.
XVI by Julia Carr: so, being completely honest, I remember nothing about this book. Apparently I read it, but the Goodreads summary nor the reviews are sparking any sort of memory of it. The first five reviews are all one-star, though, so I can’t really say I recommend this one (might reread it though to see if I actually have read it).
(wait, one review mentioned that the characters talk about how they don’t eat meat, and for some reason, I actually remember that part. The main characters are petting some cows on the side of the road? and one goes “I can’t believe we used to eat such beautiful creatures” and I vividly remember that scene. idk why my brain thought that was important to remember, but apparently it was. At least now I know I’ve read it)
The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman: this is a feminist classic short story and I love it. It’s super interesting and really well-written. It’s also a short story, so it’s a super quick read.
Zig Zag by Ellen Wittlinger: I read this book at least eight years ago now, and I still remember it. It’s about a road trip, so if that’s something you like, I highly recommend this book!
So there are the last of our alphabet recommendations! This was such a fun month of topics! Have you read any of these? What were your thoughts? Are any of them on your TBR? Let me know!
Thanks for reading! xx
