Last minute Read-a-thin TBR

Happy Monday, friends! I cannot believe that it is practically August, where has the summer gone.

I decided very last minute that I would participate in this month’s Read-a-thin. Read-a-thin is a read-a-thon based around reading books on your TBR. You can find more about it on their Twitter page here! My reading has been a bit lacking lately. I read, like, four books in one week and haven’t finished a book since then. So I thought having some sort of structure would help me for August (we can hope).

The challenges and my TBR

Read a thin book: I just bought The Most Dangerous Place on Earth by Lindsey Lee Johnson, which I think is about 250 pages, so I’m going to use it for this challenge!

Read a book in a series: for this, I’m going to read Muse of Nightmares by Laini Taylor, which is the sequel to Strange the Dreamer.

Read a book that’s been on your shelves for two years: Half of a Yellow Sun by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, which is also on my 2019 TBR!

Read a book with a bright-coloured cover: for this one, I’m going to be reading The Tea Girl of Hummingbird Lane by Lisa See, which my best friend bought for me a few weeks ago and I need to read ASAP as possible.

Read a book recommended by a friend: Rachel and Hannah on Twitter (go follow me! (and them!)) told me to read Conversations with Friends by Sally Rooney, so that’s what I’m going with!

Personal challenge I made for myself: finish book two of 1Q84 by Haruki Murakami. You can do it!

So that’s my TBR for this month! Have you read any of these? What were your thoughts? Are you participating in Read-a-thin? Let me know!

  1. I forgot about the Read-a-thin readathon. Maybe I’ll add it. I’m doing Mythathon, ARC August, POC-a-thon, and Bout of Books. I just found POC-a-thon, so why not add one more. Right.

Hope you can get your reading groove back.

    1. LOL you’re already doing so many! Really, what’s another one? I’m sure there’s overlap in the prompts.

      POC-a-thon sounds awesome, though!

Thank you! 💕💕 I hope you enjoy all your reads! And that all your readathons go well!

  2. Oh! Read-a-Thin moved to Twitter! That may explain why I stopped seeing Goodreads updates from the group. Thanks for alerting me to it — I’ve been hoping they would do another one, but I guess they’ve been doing them all along, just not where I expected to find them!

    1. Yes, I love novellas! And I also try to alternate big book-small book, generally with two small books between one really big book. I find it easier to be engaged in reading for a long time!

  4. I need to pick up Muse of Nightmares soon as well, I read Strange the Dreamer last month & was completely wowed by it! Also keen to hear your thoughts on Conversations With Friends – I’ve heard so much about it but I’m still on the fence about whether I should read it myself! Good luck with the readathon 🙂
