It has been a little while since I participate in Top 5 Tuesday, and I honestly wasn’t sure I was going to be able to do this topic. Top 5 Tuesday is a weekly meme created by the lovely Shanah at the Bionic Bookworm. You can visit here for the upcoming topics!
This month, the topics are the alphabet! Essentially, I’m going to be giving you one book for each letter of the alphabet during this month. Today, the letters are PQRST.
Pachinko by Min Jin Lee: are you tired of me talking about this book yet? No? Good because I probably won’t stop talking about it for a while. If I haven’t convinced you to read Pachinko yet, please do. It’s honestly such an incredible book.
I, Q by Roland Smith: this is kind of cheating? But I didn’t have any Q books, so I’m counting it. If you like Middle Grade/younger YA spy books, I’d highly recommend this series. It’s so dumb, but a lot of fun.
Red Rising by Pierce Brown: are you tired of me yelling about this book yet? Because that also won’t happen for a while. Also, I haven’t really talked about this book a ton recently. But here’s your monthly reminder that I love this book and everyone should read it.
Shanghai Girls by Lisa See: another book I think everyone should read! Lisa See is the Queen of historical fiction. Honestly, her books are so beautifully written and so in-depth in their research. They’re just so good.
A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith: a classic! I really enjoyed A Tree Grows in Brooklyn and thought it was fantastic. If you want a classic that focuses on a young girl, written by a woman, this is the one for you!
So there are some more alphabet recommendations! Have you read any of these? What were your thoughts? Are any of them on your TBR? Let me know!
Thanks for reading! xx
OMG you mentioned A Tree Grows In Brooklyn!!! I loved that book and sobbed like a baby a few times!

Red Rising is still on my TBR! There’s just too many books, too little time… but I’ll get there! Eventually!

I’ve just added A Tree Grows in Brooklyn to my classics club list – kept meaning to do that but you gave me the much needed nudge. I sort of enjoyed the Lisa See but mainly the first half in China.

Oooh I hope you like it! It’s a really sweet but also heart-breaking at times book 💛
If you liked the China setting, I’d definitely recommend the sequel, Dreams of Joy! It primarily takes place in China!

I didn’t know that about Lisa See. My friend is a fan but she never told me there was .a sequel.

I honestly needed that monthly reminder to read Red Rising! Haha! If not for you, Ally, I probably would’ve lost all desire to read it a while ago.
