Thursday discussion: books with LGBTQ+ representation on my TBR

Happy Thursday, everyone! Welcome to this week’s Thursday Discussion. Essentially, this is a biweekly meme where you write a post based on the prompt for that week. The post can be as long or as short as you want, and you can talk about as much or as little as you want. Visit this page for the upcoming topics! It happens every other week, and I generally post the topics a month(ish) in advance.

Also, sorry for being a little MIA the past couple of days (and probably for the next few days). I’m on my first business trip ever (!!) and it’s been a lot of fun, but also very busy. Also, it’s been the Stanley Cup and NBA finals, and as I’m a sports gay, I’ve been busy watching those games.

Anyway, this week the topic is books with LGBTQ+ representation on your TBR. There are a ton of books with representation that I want to read, and a bunch that I’m really excited for. Also please don’t @ me if there’s no/bad representation in these, I just got them from several Goodreads lists.

More Than This by Patrick Ness: we own a copy of this book, and I actually didn’t know it counts as LGBTQ+, but I’ve been meaning to read it for AGES now.

We are the Ants by Shaun David Hutchinson: this book also sounds really interesting and like a really cool concept. I’ve heard good things, so I’m excited to read it.

The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater: I actually just started listening to the audiobook of this, and I’m really loving it so far! I’m excited to see where it goes.

The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde: I bought a copy of this book a little while ago and really need to read it ASAP.

The Colour Purple by Alice Walker: this is a classic that has been on my TBR for AGES and I really need to read it soon. I’ve heard iffy things about Alice Walker, but this is still a book I want to read.

So those are some books with LGBTQ+ representation that are on my TBR! Have you read any of these? What were your thoughts? Do you have any LGBTQ+ books I should read? Let me know!

  1. We are the Ants is a fantastic book. It is one of my all time favorites. I went into it for the aliens aspect and realized it is so much more than that. Definitely a great book and his other ones are fantastic as well!

  2. why have I not read We Are the Ants yet, it’s been on my tbr for so so long.
Anyway, I have tons of recommendations (you might have read some of them tho!)- Red, White and Royal Blue (FAVE of the year so far), Leo Loves Aries, Autoboyography and also The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo (I just finished the book, lived up to the hype). 🖤
    Great post!
