I bought Broken Things by Lauren Oliver and Sawkill Girls by Claire Legrand on my kindle!
From around the internet
The Marie Kondo Books Debate Has Classist & Racist Undertones That Can’t Be Ignored: from Bustle. I really enjoyed this article. The whole discussion about KonMari-ing your books was, IMO, ridiculous. But this article explains some of my thoughts really well.
Other news and highlights
- New Years Eve was a lot of fun! My family, my brother’s friends, and my sister’s friend all did an Escape Room, and the girls beat the boys and were fast enough to get on the leaderboard!
- We went skiing a couple of more times and stayed at a super fancy hotel, and had a lot of fun.
- My small group from school (kind of like our homeroom but for law school) went out for drinks one night, and it was a lot of fun!
- I didn’t fail contracts!!!!!!!! I actually did fairly well!!
- In class, we learned how to do negotiations and mediations, and it was a lot of fun.
- I went to Toronto with my family, and it was great! We did (another) Escape Room (in a castle!) and went to the science centre and just enjoyed Toronto (and of course the one time I’m in the city, the leafs aren’t 😒 )
How was your January? Let me know!!
xx

Your January looked like productive one! I posted my resolution check-out blog yesterday, and motivating myself to make February better yet.
I love Lisa See books. My latest read was “The Tea girl of Hummingbird Lane.” How did you like Toronto? Calgary, Alberta is my home town, I still miss the 48 hrs long rail trip from Alberta to Toronto in 2008! Keep posting Ally ❤

Thank you!!
Lisa See is so great, I can’t believe I waited so long to read her books! I’ll have to look into that one!
Toronto was a lot of fun! My sister has never been, so it was fun showing her around.
Ahhh so happy someone else is from Calgary! I’ve never taken the train from AB to TO, but I really want to! 💖

Sounds like you had a good month! I agree that there are major issues with the way people are lashing out at Marie Kondo, though I have used her method to review the books on my bookshelf. It worked for me, though I kept way more books than she would probably consider ideal.

So glad you agree! I feel like people purposefully misunderstood her and then refused to admit it. And honestly I feel like she’d be happy with any progress!

I will admit, I laughed at some of the KonMari vs. books MEMEs on Facebook. But I also knew it was taking them out of context and have tried to make others aware of that when they seemed to be taking it seriously without looking for any context.
