Hi friends! Today I thought I’d do a round-up of all the TBRs I’ve posted. I’m a big mood reader, but I also like to set TBRs to kind of keep me on track. So I thought it’d be fun to go back and see how many of the books I put on my TBRs I’ve actually read. Also, this was inspired by Destiny’s posts, which I definitely recommend checking out! The posts are in order of when I posted them.
July/August 2017 TBR
- Caraval by Stephanie Garber: read!
- The Beauty Myth by Naomi Wolf: not read. It was taking me forever to get through this book, so I put it down. I do think I’ll try to reread it again, though. It’s still on my TBR.
- The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern: read!
- American Gods by Neil Gaiman: read, but not this month.
November (2017) TBR and Tome Topple TBR
- The Help by Kathryn Stockett: read!
- Between You and Me by Lisa Hall: read!
- The Beauty Myth by Naomi Wolf: still not read lmao
- The Queen of Katwe by Tim Crothers: not read. Idk why but it was taking me ages to read this. I think I’ll just watch the movie tbh.
- The Book of Negroes by Lawrence Hill: not read. BUT this year. For sure.
- American Gods by Neil Gaiman: read, but not this month.
Last minute Tome Topple TBR (July 2018)
- 1Q84 by Haruki Murakami: not read, but will be this year.
- The Book of Negroes by Lawrence Hill: ditto.
Vacation TBR (August 2018)
- The Bell Jar by Slyvia Plath: read!
- Ready Player One by Ernest Cline: still not read. Hopefully soon!
- The Butterfly Garden by Dot Hutchinson: read!
- We Were Liars by E. Lockhart: read!
- Pachinko by Min Jin Lee: read!
- The Shanghai Girls by Lisa See: not read on vacation, but read very soon after!
Books I really want to read before the end of 2018
- Unwind by Neal Shusterman: read!
- Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo: not read, but now I have a physical copy!
- Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi: not read, but happening this year.
- 1Q84 by Haruki Murakami: ditto.
So overall, not as bad as I thought! I have six that are still on my TBR, but I’ve read all the others. So I consider this a success!
Have you read any of these? Which should I prioritise? Do you use TBRs? Let me know!!
Thanks for reading! xx
I think you did really well! I don’t even post TBRs because I know I won’t stick to them. I think you’ll enjoy Ready Player One. It’s a quick read and so fun!

Thank you! And I always thought I didn’t stick to them either, but I guess I’m better than I thought!
I’m excited to read it! Hopefully this summer!

I did a graph in my end of 2018 wrap-up that counted all the books I put on various TBRs during the year, and whether I read them. Only just over a third of the books I read during the year were on my intended TBR. The rest were either new books or others I just picked up that I wasn’t intending on reading!

That’s not bad!! I think the most important thing is you’re reading books you want to read and are enjoying

What an awesome post, I love this idea! You did so good keeping to your TBR as much as you did! I’m so awful at keeping to any kind of TBR 😂😂

Thank you!! 😄
I used to think I was bad at it, but I guess not!

Great list! You made some great progress there. My biggest problem with my TBRs is I get too ambitious with them. Second biggest problem is I am easily distracted… 😉

Thank you! And same, I put too many books on them most of the time! And I’m so easily distracted by other books

I’m the same way – I love doing monthly TBRs as a guideline, but I’m definitely a mood reader, too.

Yes!! Thinking of them as guidelines works way better for me!

Ah, I love seeing these from Destiny so I was super excited to see that you did one too! I don’t so many TBRs so it would be more difficult for me to do one, but I definitely have a few I could reflect on. 🙂

Yay thank you!! I tend not to do a ton either, but maybe I’ll start because this post was so fun! You definitely should do one for the ones you have!

I generally don’t do TBRs, but I occasionally use them to keep track if I’m feeling overwhelmed e.g. with library books etc. They’re a great guideline if I’m feeling the books I want to read but if I’m not in the mood, literally nothing will get read!

I like using them as guidelines too! It’s more so I can remember what I want to read haha
