Even though I participate in giving Monthly Recommendations, I thought I would start my own where every couple weeks I give recommendations for a specific topic. Today I’m doing recommendations of my favourite books. These are books that I think everyone needs to read.
AKA me gushing about my favourite books for 300 words and trying to convince everyone to read them.
The Glass Castle by Jeanette Walls: I just love this book so much. It’s such an incredible story and so well-written. It honestly doesn’t read like non-fiction. I just love this book so much.
The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid: we all know how much I love this book. We’ve all heard it from everyone. It’s everyone’s new favourite book. And honestly, it deserves all the hype. Evelyn Hugo is just one of the best characters ever. She’s so badass, so driven, so sure of herself. The relationships and friendships in this book are so great. It’s so interesting. Please just read it.
Everything I Never Told You by Celeste Ng: this was my favourite book from 2018. It was honestly just so amazing. I loved the way it was written, I loved the characters, I loved the story. Ng has such a way with words and is so amazing at crafting stories about families. Gah I just loved it.
Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett: this is probably the funniest book I’ve ever read. It’s just,,,,, so quotable. So many good, iconic scenes. The drunk dolphin discussion. The other horsemen of the apocalypse. The sub-plot of Elvis not being dead. The part where the Them try to name more ice cream flavours than vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry. The chatting nuns. The sub-plot about music. Crowley scaring his plants (I’m literally crying remembering it). And the concept (losing the anti-christ) is just,, the best? God I love it so much.
The Female of the Species by Mindy McGinnis: honestly, I wasn’t expecting to enjoy this book as much as I did. But wow man it was good. There are so many good things about it. The discussion of rape culture. The representation of women and sex. For a YA novel, it’s so good.
Nimona by Noelle Stevenson: my favourite graphic novel ever. I read Nimona when it was still a webcomic and literally cried when I learned it was going to be published. I love it so much. Nimona is such a great character, and the art is fantastic.
So, those are some of my favourite books that I recommend. Have you read any of these? What are your thoughts?? Which of your favourite books do you recommend? Let me know!!
Thanks for reading! xx
