Favourites from 2018

Happy Tuesday, friends! I hope your first week of 2019 was a gooder! Today I thought I’d go over my favourite books from 2018. I read a ton of good books and wanted to gush about them.

Everything I Never Told You by Celeste Ng

This was my #1 favourite of the year. It was so good, I can’t get over it. If I give this book five stars, all my past five stars are reduced to 4.5 stars.

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid

This one would have been my favourite if I hadn’t read Everything I Never Told You. It’s a very close second (more like a 1.5). This seems to be the one book the book community can agree on. If you haven’t read it yet, please do. I promise you won’t regret it.

Pachinko by Min Jin See

THIS BOOK. Honestly this is one of the best books I’ve ever read for so many reasons. It’s just asghdjklsjhf, you know?

Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor

I wasn’t expecting this book to end up on my favourites list but I cannot. stop. thinking about it. Honestly, it’s just so good. If you’re wondering or iffy about this book, please give it a try!

Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi

This was one of the first books I read this year, and honestly it’s so good. I highly recommend it. I connected with it in a way I wasn’t expecting. Definitely my favourite non-fiction of the year.

Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro

This is another book I can’t stop thinking about. It’s maybe the best written book I’ve read in a while (next to EINT). Ishiguro has such a way with words, and this was just beautiful to read.

Hunger by Lan Samantha Chang

This is a small short story collection that I wasn’t expecting to love as much as I did. But again, I haven’t stopped thinking about it since I read it. I think it’s such an amazing hidden gem, and it’s so beautiful.

Honourable mentions: Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste NgEducated by Tara WestoverAmericanah by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie and Unwind by Neal Shusterman. These were all amazing, and would have made it onto my favourites list if I hadn’t read the other ones.

So those were my favourite books from 2018! Have you read any of these? What were your thoughts? What were your favourites from 2018? Let me know!!

Thanks for reading! xx
