Another Tuesday, another tag that I’m 900 years late for. Today I’m doing the Reader Confessions Tag, which I was tagged for by the lovely Kiersten! Thank you Kiersten for tagging me to expose myself and the bad things I’ve done to books.
Have you ever damaged a book?
Honestly, probably, but I can’t remember a specific time. Our copy of the Goblet of Fire has been attacked by our old dog, though.
Have you ever damaged a borrowed book?
I don’t think so! I don’t borrow a ton of books, so I haven’t had a lot of opportunity to lol.
How long does it take you to read a book?
Honestly anywhere from a few hours to weeks. It took me about 6 months to read American Gods because life got in the way, but it took me like four days to read the Goldfinch, which is just as long. So it really depends.
Books that you haven’t finished?
The Sunbird by Wilbur Smith. I just hated the main character and couldn’t suffer through the second half.
Hyped/popular books you didn’t like?
Quite a few, tbh, but notably would be All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven. Again, I hated the main character.
Is there a book you wouldn’t tell anyone you were reading?
Hmmm maybe depending on the context? If I was at a job interview, I probably wouldn’t tell them I was reading Anna and the French Kiss, because the name is so bad even though I unapologetically love that book.
How many books do you own?
We have a lot of books. I’m not counting I’m sorry lol. Maybe like 500? We have a lot of space and a lot of eBooks.
OKAY so my family did an estimate of our bookshelves and including eBooks, we probably own about upwards of 1,300 books in total. We’re a bookish family.
Are you a fast or a slow reader?
I think I’m pretty average. But I think the slower end of average.
Do you like to buddy read?
Yes and no. I love being able to discus a book with someone and talk and gush about it, so I love that aspect. But I don’t like buddy reads that are like “okay, you have to be on this page by this day” because I’m a slow reader and life happens.
If you were only allowed to own one book, what would it be and why?
ONE BOOK. The first book that came to mind was the Life of Pi by Yann Martel, because it’s one of my favourites and I love it a lot.
That’s all! Have you done any of these? Please let me know I’m not alone!
Thanks for reading! xx
I love this tag, great answers!

I adore Life of Pi! And my family is a huge reader too, we have like 4 bookshelves filled to the brim in our house and very proud to showcase them ❤

I’ve been reading this one book for like 13 months, which has to be a record. XD It’s not that book is boring–it’s just, as you said, life gets in the way.

I totally get that haha. Though 13 months is probably a record lol

1,300 books?! That’s awesome. (This is why I try not to do the e-book thing. My collection will get so out of control! Haha) Loved your answers!
