Happy Tuesday everyone!!
Learn more about Top Ten Tuesday here! It has been a hot minute since I did a Top Ten Tuesday, and I’m honestly so happy to be back! This was such a fun topic and something that I’d considered talking about for a while. So, let’s get into today’s topic, which is books by favourite authors I still need to read.
Half of a Yellow Sun by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
I’ve read We Should All Be Feminists and Americanah, and enjoyed both of them, and I’ve heard good things about this book! I think my mom bought it on Kindle, so hopefully I can get to it soon!
Oryx and Crake by Margaret Atwood
I love The Handmaid’s Tale, and we have a copy of Oryx and Crake, so I need to read it soon!
Iron Gold by Pierce Brown
Everyone knows how much I love the Red Rising series, and I haven’t read Iron Gold yet. Honestly though, I think I might wait until the entire trilogy is out lol.
We Were Eight Years in Power by Ta-Nehisi Coates
I love Ta-Nehisi Coates and really want to read this book by him. Maybe another buddy read, Rebecca?
Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman
I often cite Gaiman as my favourite author and yet I haven’t read one of his most popular books. I need to get on that.
Kafka on the Shore by Haruki Murakami
I adore Murakami’s writing in everything of his that I’ve read so far. It’s just so beautiful and lyrical, and his ideas are so different. Kafka on the Shore is one of his most popular, so I need to read it soon!
A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness
I love the Chaos Walking trilogy and want to read pretty much everything else Patrick Ness has read. My brother has most of his books, so I just need to find the time to read them.
Everything I Never Told You by Celeste Ng
Little Fires Everywhere was one of my favourite books last year, and I love Ng’s writing. I’ve heard her debut is better, so I’m excited to read it!
La Belle Sauvage by Phillip Pullman
I don’t talk about it a lot, but The Golden Compass is one of my favourite books. And I really want to read his new series.
The Secret History by Donna Tartt
The Goldfinch was one of my favourite books a few years ago, and I loved Tartt’s writing. I’ve heard amazing things about the Secret History, and it sounds like something I’d love.
Have you read any of these books? Which should I read first? Let me know!
Ally xx
Oh I haven’t read any of these… Hope you enjoy reading them 🙂 🙂

I read Oryx and Crake and remember being a bit indifferent to it, but I also wasn’t into dystopian books at the time. My opinion of it now might be different. And Neverwhere is a book that I read before I knew who Gaiman was, and I remember very little about it. That one is on my TBR shelf to re-read, so I personally would prioritize Neverwhere. 😉

I’ve heard similar things from other people, but I think it’s still worth a read. I’ll definitely try to prioritize Neverwhere! Maybe I’ll ask for it for Christmas

I do think it’s worth a read, especially if you have enjoyed other works by Atwood. It’s not one I feel a need to re-read, but I also don’t regret reading it.

Oh I’d love to read one of Adichie’s books. I have Americanah and Purple Hibiscus. Am hoping to read one before the year ends.

I definitely recommend Americanah! I hope you enjoy them when you get to them! 🙂

Oryx and Crake is an interesting, though strange story. So different from The Handmaiden’s Tale.

I haven’t read Gaiman, but Neverwhere seems like a good place to start- the under London thing sounds super fun- and The secret History is another one I’ve heard good things about!

I absolutely adore the Dark Materials series and I have no idea why I still haven’t read The Book of Dust yet either! And Neverwhere is a fun, weird ride. I really recommend the BBC radio adaptation too. 😀

Go read A Monster Calls! It’s an amazing and touching read. Also on a different genre altogether, Donna Tartt’s work is amazing and I loved The Secret History so you should definitely pick that one up soon.
