So this is a somewhat impromptu post. All the posts since the beginning of September and until the end of October have already been scheduled, but I wanted to write a post about the books I really want to read before the end of 2018. This isn’t really a TBR but more of a post to remind me what to read when I finally have the time to read for pleasure. These are also books that weren’t necessarily on my initial 2018 TBR, but instead books that I’m excited to read (which is more important tbh).
My goal for 2018 was to read 20 books, which I then changed to 30. I’m currently at 24 books, so I’ll need to read six more books to reach my goal! Even though I don’t read during school, I feel like this is viable if I take winter break into account. And, I have a reading break in October, so maybe I can read something then. But without further ado, here are the books that I really want to finish before the end of 2018.
Unwind by Neal Shusterman
Unwind has been on my TBR for SO LONG and I’ve heard so many good things about it. So I finally want to read it this year. I feel like/am hoping it’ll be a fairly quick read? And I think it’ll be the first book I read when I have time. Maybe I’ll try to read it over reading break?
Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo
I’ve heard so many good things about this book and really want to read it. I was supposed to read it over the summer and just never got to it, but I feel like it could be a good winter book?
Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi
Another book that has been on my TBR for ages. I think I’ve put this on three past TBR lists, and it just hasn’t happened yet. I think it’s because I always put it on TBR lists with other heavy books, and I can only read so many serious books.
1Q84 by Haruki Murakami
I’ve read the first book of this (so like the first 300 pages) and then took a break. But I really want to finish it this year. Unfortunately, I left it at home, so this will definitely have to wait until winter break.
So, those are the four books I really want to read before the end of 2018. Shoutout also to X by Ilyasah Shabazz, which I’ll probably buddy read with Rebecca in December too!
Have you read any of these books? Which should I read first? Let me know!

Unwind has been on my tbr for years!!! I just read Scythe by him and really loved it so Unwind has definitely moved up on my list.
Homegoing is fantastic. It is definitely a heavier book but it’s been a year since I read it and I think about it all the time.

I haven’t read any of these, but I know what you mean about book plans changing as the year goes on. There are books which — when the year started — I intended to have read by summer that now I’m not at all interested in, and it makes a huge difference when it comes to actually reading them.

Homegoing is such a good read. It’s one of my favorites and was one of the top books I read last year. I highly recommend it. The topic is heavy, but the story flows so well and fells effortless. It’s really good.
