Questions from Kiersten
Can you read places other than home?
Sometimes! I can read if I’m isolated, so at my desk at work or in a car. But I also love people watching, so sometimes it’s hard to read in public because I like watching people.
Would it have been weird if Harry had given Dobby his underwear instead?
Very weird. But like tbh socks aren’t all that much better.
Weirdest place/situation you ever took out a book? (Fun fact: I attempted to read at a wedding on a boat last weekend.)
(tbh reading at a wedding is very much something I’d do)
I used to read in class all the time, so maybe that? OH at a party a couple years ago, my friend (who was hosting) and I found out we both love Tamora Pierce and started reading our favourite parts of her books to each other.
If you had to read books by one one author the rest of the year, which author would you pick?
ONE. Kiersten come on. I guess I would go with Neil Gaiman because 1) he’s one of my favourite authors and 2) he has so many published books and stories and comics that I think I’d have something new to read until the end of the year.
How has your books changed over the years?
Definitely! I used to read a TON of YA romance when I was in high school (when it’s fairly normal to read YA romance) and I haven’t really reached for one in a while. I also used to love YA dystopian, but then it got to be super popular and a bit over done.
Character you think would be most fun to play truth or dare with?
Ooooh good question!! I think the Marauder’s from Harry Potter. There’s a scene in my favourite fanfiction about them where they place Never Have I Ever and it’s one of my favourites.
If you could take any character and add them to a different book world, who would it be and which world would you choose?
Also a good question!! I think Luna Lovegood would love to be at the Night Circus. I can picture it so perfectly.
What do you think Harry Potter’s favorite pizza topping is?
Honestly he’s such a Bro™ that it’s probably pepperoni.
Which fantasy world is your least favorite and why?
Hmmmmmm maybe the one from Game of Thrones. I don’t really have a reason why except that it’s a bit too much like ours that it stresses me out, y’know?
Make up an imaginary creature right now. Go.
AH I’m not creative enough for this!!!
If you had to recommend one book to someone who says they “don’t like reading,” what book would you recommend?
Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett. It’s one of my go-to’s because it’s so funny and so easy to read but also so good.
Questions from Ruqs
Of the main characters from the last three books you’ve read, who would you pick to be your best friend?
So the last three books I read were Pachinko by Min Jin Lee, We Were Liars by E. Lockhart, and Moxie by Jenifer Mathieu. So we’ll say Sunja, Cadence, and Vivian. Three badass women, yay!! I think I’d go with Vivian. She wasn’t my favourite, per se, but I feel like she’s the one I’d get along with the most.
If you could travel one place in the world, where would it be?
I’ve always wanted to go to Italy, so there!!
Favourite genre and why?
I honestly don’t have a favourite genre! I read books from every genre and have favourites from every genre.
What is your go-to snack while reading?
Hot chocolate, if that counts as a snack? I like having my hands to hold my book, so I generally don’t snack a ton when reading.
What is a typical time in the day for you to sit down with a book?
Night right before bed is probably the most common time for me to read. When I have time, I read whenever I can, but right before is when I’m most likely to do it.
How long does it usually take for you to finish a book?
Depends on the book and how busy I am! An average-sized book (350 pages) would probably take me like 8ish hours of solid reading, so like three days if I wasn’t busy. I know it takes me about an hour to read 50ish pages, so take that as you will.
Book that’s a childhood favourite?
Robert Munsch’s books! I was obsessed with them!!
Which continent in the world are you living in?
I live in Canada, so North America!
Do you use bookmarks?
Uhhhhm no. I honestly don’t get the obsession with bookmarks tbh? I’ve always just used pieces of paper or the dust jacket.
What personality type do you have?
Like, Myers-Briggs? I’m INFJ. I’m definitely introverted and this personality honestly fits me so well.
Would you ever publish a book of your own?
I mean, I’d love to, but I don’t think I’m a talented enough author. I’m a pretty good writer, but writing novels is SO HARD and I honestly don’t think authors get enough credit. Character arcs and dialogue are so hard. So I’d love to, but probably won’t.
