The Awesome Blogger Award!

Happy Saturday everyone!

Today I’m back with another long overdue award post! Today I’m doing the Awesome Blogger Award, which I was nominated for by Claire @ Cup of BooksJoe @ Storeys of Stories, and Kiersten. Thank you all so much for the nominations! Please go check out their blogs if you haven’t already. They’re all some of my favourite and have some of the best, most relatable posts.

Rules

  • Thank the person who nominated you.
  • Tag it under #awesomebloggeraward
  • Answer the questions asked.
  • Nominate at least five awesome bloggers.
  • Give your nominees ten questions.
  • Let your nominees know that they’ve been nominated.

The award was created by Maggie @ Dreaming of Guatemala who stated, “This is an award for the absolutely wonderful writers all across the blogging world. They have beautiful blogs, are kind and lovely, and always find a way to add happiness and laughter to the lives of their readers. That is what truly defines an awesome blogger.”

Questions from Claire

Do you prefer hot chocolate, tea or coffee?

This is so hard because I like all of them! Probably hot chocolate because I drink it all the time. But I also love mochas, which I guess is hot chocolate and coffee together?

Would you rather read under a snuggly blanket by the fire or outdoors in the warm sun with a cold drink?

Probably snuggled by a fire! One of my favourite things to do during Christmas is read by our fire.

What is your favourite animal?

I like all animals honestly. Maybe horses because I ride, but I also love dogs and birds.

What is your favourite movie?

Spirited Away. It’s one of the most magical movies I’ve ever watched.

What is your favourite dessert?

I love almost all chocolate-themed desserts, but chocolate lava cake with vanilla ice cream probably wins.

What is you favourite book?

Please don’t make me choose!!

Do you prefer reading or writing?

Reading for sure! I never really stuck with writing, but I’ve been missing it lately. I write a lot for school and work, but those are academic papers and don’t really count.

If you could pick any book that you wish you had written, what would it be?

This is such a good question! Maybe Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng. I think it’s such a compelling read while still being so simple, and I wish I had the talent to pull that off.

Who is your favourite author?

I almost always say Neil Gaiman because I love his writing, but I have such a hard time picking favourites, so I’m not really sure.

Which do you prefer, Marvel or DC?

Okay on a superhero basis, DC because I love Batman and Wonder Woman with my whole heart. But as like movies and as a whole universe, Marvel.

Questions from Joe and Kiersten (neither of you put questions so I just stole the questions you answered lol)

If you could choose any job to have in the world (fictional or real) what would it be and why?

I’m straight up stealing Kiersten’s answer and saying a librarian at Hogwarts. That would be so great.

Who is your favourite booktuber/blogger?

All the people nominated below and the three who nominated me are some of my favourites, plus so many others! And I don’t really watch a ton of booktube, but a girl I went to high school with has a booktube channel and I watch her sometimes (Jordan Harvey, check her out!!).

Why did you decide to start blogging?

I love books (obviously) and I don’t have a ton of people in my life to talk to about books (I have a lot of friends who read, but I don’t want to bug them with my incessant book talk) and I wanted somewhere to talk about books as much as I wanted. And it’s been great!

We all have literary passports, where is yours stamped the most?

The Night Circus. As much as I would love to go to Hogwarts, I would also love to visit the Night Circus and experience the magic.

What’s your Harry Potter name? Use this generator to find out!

Angelina Moody. Aww, that’s kind of cute! And I’d be related to Mad-eye Moody, who’s so great. (it’s better than yours, Joe!)

What are some of your guilty pleasures? Whether they are book related or not.

Starbucks lol. I spend too much money on hot chocolate and mochas and banana bread, but they’re tasty and help when I’m sad so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ (I’m a fan of eating your feelings lol)

What is something that you love about your blog?

I love all the interactions with everyone. Honestly, every comment and discussion makes my day and makes me so happy ❤

What is your favourite post that you have personally done?

I like a lot of my discussion posts, such as my one on things I want to see represented more and the representation of medication in books. I also liked my recent Top 5 Tuesdays where I just posted pretty book covers, because I like aesthetics.

I nominate: Lily // Libby // Cindy // Sav // Rebecca // Nicole // Kristin // Dee // LaRonda // Chantel & Caidyn // Kelly

My questions:

  1. If you could only read one 2018 release, which would it be?
  2. What’s one series you’d like to turn into a TV show?
  3. Do you listen to podcasts? If so, which ones?
  4. Do you have any weird hobbies?
  5. What’s your favourite animal?
  6. Describe your dream reading room.
  7. Who’s your favourite author?
  8. If you could travel anywhere with any book character, where and who?
  9. What’s your go-to Starbucks (or other coffee shop) order?
  10. Are there any books on your TBR that you probably will never read but you convince yourself you will?

As always, no pressure!

Thanks again to Claire, Joe, and Kiersten for the nominations! And thank you everyone for reading and supporting my blog!

Ally xx

  1. I loved reading your answers! I completely understand what you mean with the reason to start blogging. I have one friend who loves reading just as much as me. But all my other friends don’t really read. I love how you can just talk about books and stuff and make some great friends along the way! 😀

  2. Lovely post! Thanks for the tag, doll! Hot chocolate is the best, and I still haven’t read the Night Circus or seen Spirited Away! *cries* The only Studio Ghibli movie I’ve seen in Princess Mononoke. Oof!

  3. Your questions are so fun and I’m so excited to answer them! Thanks for tagging me ❤

I'm the same way with DC vs Marvel. I love Wonder Woman, both the character and the movie but overall, the Marvel movies are a lot better. I don't watch that many superhero movies haha but I liked Black Panther, Guardians of the Galaxy, Deadpool and most of their TV shows!

  4. Spirited Away is one of my favorite movies of all time! It’s actually a big inspiration behind the stories I write, all of Hayao Miyazaki’s works are really. Also, I’ve never heard of that HP name generator and my name is Lily Crockford! I love it. It may become my writing pen name 😀

  5. Thanks for the nomination! Can’t wait to answer those questions!

Spirited Away is one of my favorites as well. To be honest, I think most Studio Ghibli movies I’d consider to be my favorite movies. They’re all so magical and wonderful.

  6. Your questions are so good! I always find it so difficult coming up with questions for awards and tags like these but you always do an amazing job. I loved reading through your answers, thanks so much for tagging me, and I can’t wait to answer these!! ❤

  7. This is a really fun tag, thanks! I’ll have fun with it (but I have a tag backlog, so it will be a little while before it gets posted). It seems my Harry Potter name is Narcissa. Maybe I’m a little more borderline Slytherin than I thought. (#RavenclawFTW)

      1. I could be a Slytherclaw, I just don’t like the way the name sounds as well as either of the two main houses. 😉 Oh well, maybe I’ll just pick my house based on how I feel any given day.

  8. I loved reading your answers!! I also totally agree- Spirited Away is such a magical film. My personal favourite is (and probably always will be) Howl’s Moving Castle. Have you watched it? It’s sooo good— all Studio Ghibli films are.

  9. First of all – I come back from my hiatus and your blog has changed?? It looks so nice, Ally!! ❤

I really enjoyed reading your answers, and I always have trouble choosing between Hogwarts and The Night Circus, but I love your reasoning behind choosing the latter.

Thank you so much for the nomination, I hope I can do it soon!! 🙂 ❤
