Happy Tuesday and welcome to the first official post of Unpopular Opinion week! Today I’m doing the Books I’ll Probably Never Read Tag. I was tagged by the always wonderful Orangutan Librarian. Thank you so much for the tag!!
A REALLY HYPED BOOK YOU’RE NOT INTERESTED IN READING?
omg so many honestly. Of recent releases, probably The Cruel Prince by Holly Black, Eliza and Her Monsters by Francess Zappia, and The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue by Mackenzi Lee. They’re all super hyped and well-loved, but I’m just not interested?
A SERIES YOU WON’T START/WON’T BE FINISHING?
I think I’m going to go with the ACOTAR series by Sarah J. Maas. When I first joined the blogging community, it was right before the release of ACOWAR and I saw ALL THE HYPE and wanted to join in and read the series. But then I did more reading about the books, and I honestly just don’t think they’re for me? The relationship sounds a little too borderline abusive for my tastes.
A CLASSIC THAT YOU’RE JUST NOT INTERESTED IN?
Most classics? Maybe I’ll go with anything by Charles Dickens. I might try A Tale of Two Cities, but I’m not really interested in most classics.
ANY GENRES YOU’VE NEVER READ?
I don’t read a lot of adult romance or erotica. I’m okay with, like, fanfiction-length smut, but I couldn’t read a whole erotica book.
A BOOK ON YOUR SHELVES YOU’LL PROBABLY NEVER ACTUALLY READ?
There’s a few my parents got me for Christmas YEARS ago before I had the brilliant idea of giving them my wishlist that I know were well-intentioned, but I probably won’t read.
So those are some books I’ll probably never read! I’m not sure who’s done this tag, but if not and you want to, please pingback so I can see your response!
Thanks for reading! xx
ACOTAR was my answer for that question too. There is so much hype surrounding it but I’ve seen negative reviews by people I trust that have sneaked past the uber fangirling and praise. It’s great that a lot of people love them but I’m not about to dedicate time to a series I don’t think I’m even going to enjoy.

Exactly! It’s great people love them so much, it just doesn’t seem like something I’d like

I read Eliza and Her Monsters, and it was cute, but definitely over-hyped.

Anything by Charles Dickens… I read his books a while ago and end up not liking it 😂

I at first wasn’t interested in reading The Cruel Prince but after all the hype I finally read it and I ended up giving it 4/5 – but I don’t think it’s worth the hype 🙂 Great post!

Im not interested in reading Eliza and Her Monsters either 😳 I’ve read the Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue and while I liked it, I’m not so sure it’s as good as the hype suggests! So if you’re not interested then there’s no need to read it 😅

It just doesn’t seem like something I’d be interested in ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I feel like I would’ve liked the Gentleman’s Guide five years ago, but not so much today.

I wouldn’t recommend the ACOTAR series haha! I forced myself to read it and ended up hating it. Great post!

Great post, Ally! I feel the same way about the erotica genre, and I don’t see myself reading the ACOTAR series any time soon either.

Thanks Kelly!! Neither of them are things I’m super interested in ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
