BEST BOOK YOU’VE READ YET IN 2018

I’ve been lucky enough to read a ton of amazing books so far in 2018, but I think I have to say my favourite was The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid. I’ve recommended this book to EVERYONE.

BEST SEQUEL YOU’VE READ SO FAR IN 2016

The only sequel I’ve read is A Conjuring of Light by V.E. Schwab, which was a great ending to the series.

NEW RELEASE YOU HAVEN’T READ YET BUT WANT TO

Honestly, I don’t even know what’s been released in 2018 and what I’m just behind on reading.

MOST ANTICIPATED RELEASE FOR THE SECOND HALF OF THE YEAR

I’m stealing Orangutan’s answer for this one, but Muse of Nightmares by Laini Taylor! I’m so excited!!

BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT

I don’t think I’ve been disappointed by any of the books I’ve read! The lowest rating I’ve given this year was 3 stars to A Conjuring of Light, but I wasn’t disappointed in it. It was more just too long.

BIGGEST SURPRISE

Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor. I was expecting to like this book, but not love it as much as I did. It’s honestly the best fantasy I’ve read in a while (hence why I’m so excited for the Muse of Nightmares!).

FAVOURITE NEW AUTHOR

So many!! Taylor Jenkins Reid, Kazuo Ishiguro, Laini Taylor, and Celeste Ng.

NEWEST FICTIONAL CRUSH

I don’t really have fictional crushes? idk I just find it hard to crush on fictional characters lol

NEWEST FAVOURITE CHARACTER

Sarai from Strange the Dreamer and Evelyn Hugo from Evelyn Hugo both stand out to me.

BOOK THAT MADE YOU CRY

Salt to the Sea by Ruta Sepetys for sure. That ENDING.

BOOK THAT MADE YOU HAPPY

Looking at the books I’ve read, they’ve all been super heavy books lol. They all made me happy in how good they were, but I haven’t really read any light-hearted contemporaries lately.

FAVOURITE BOOK TO FILM ADAPTATION

I don’t think I’ve seen any lately? OH WAIT I watched The Kissing Booth on Netflix recently, which was definitely very adorable. I haven’t read the book though, so I can’t compare them. But if you want a great summer movie, I definitely recommend the Kissing Booth!

FAVOURITE POST YOU HAVE DONE THIS YEAR

I really liked the recent Top 5 Tuesday of books with red, orange, and yellow, because lots of people complimented me on my cover choices (need that validation) and it became my second most liked post. I also really liked discussion of settings I want to see more of and discussion on judging people because of books.
