Happy Tuesday everyone!!
Learn more about Top Ten Tuesday here! This week is Bookish Worlds I’d Want to/Never Want to Live In. I did bookish worlds I’d never want to live in, because I thought that was more interesting.
White London, from A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab
White London sounds horrible. Maybe after the series finishes and it’s recovering, but as it was in the series, it would be terrible.
Panem, from The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
Panem would be the worst. Imagine having to sacrifice children that blatantly. And even living in the Capitol would be horrible.
Narnia during the White Witch’s reign
I think Narnia would be an amazing place to live, but only once the White Witch has been taken down. It was always a secret fantasy of mine to find Narnia and become royalty there.
The world of Divergent by Veronica Roth
I can’t imagine splitting everyone into factions that blatantly. People aren’t defined by one characteristic. That’s why your world fails!
Mars during the Red Rising trilogy by Pierce Brown
TBH, being a gold living on Mars would be pretty chill. But it sucks for pretty much everyone else. AND you’d have your entire class system torn apart (which, don’t get me wrong, is a good thing, but still hard to deal with).
The world of the Chaos Walking trilogy by Patrick Ness
Imagine hearing every single thought men have. That would be terrifying.
The world of Delirium by Lauren Oliver
In this world, love is considered a disease that needs to be prevented and eliminated. The whole thing sounded so bad.
The world of Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury
They burn books. I don’t think I need to say much more.
The Republic of Gilead from the Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood
Again, I don’t think I need to say much about why this would be bad for me, a woman.
Westeros from Game of Thrones by George RR Martin
There’s just so much poverty and war and it sounds like a bad place to live.
Those were the bookish worlds I’d never want to live in! Any similar ones?
Thanks for reading!
I agree with all of this! Especially Westeros…or pretty much anywhere in the Game of Thrones novels. Too many murders happening. *shudders*

I’d be cool with having a dragon though…

True, if I could just be Dany, I’d maybe agree to go there 😉

I get nightmares only imagining having to live in Panem, or the Divergent-world. I’m seriously not equipped to survive under such conditions. :’)
Great choices, Ally! 🙂

Yes!! I would definitely be one of the first to go in either of those places! Thank you!! 😊

I would not want to live in District 12 (or in Panem in general) either. It doesn’t sound like a fun place to live.

Oooh, I didn’t even consider things like Fahrenheit 451. I was too wrapped up in the fantasy and dystopian settings that other futures weren’t on my radar. But yes… I don’t want to be anywhere where they burn books.
