Tag Tuesday: Music Habits Tag

A bit of a different post today! A music-themed one instead of books! Thanks very much to Rebecca for the tag. If you haven’t checked out her blog yet, definitely do! She’s one of my favourites 🙂 This tag was created by Sumedha of The Wordy Habitat, so thank you for the wonderful tag!

DO YOU DOWNLOAD SONGS OR STREAM ON APPS LIKE SPOTIFY, WINK?

Both maybe? I used to use iTunes for all my music, but I’ve started using Spotify and I love it.

WHAT’S YOUR CURRENT FAVOURITE SONG?

Hmmmmm I’m not sure honestly. I recently rediscovered Green Light by Lorde and am loving it all over again. But also In Bloom by Neck Deep, This is Me from the Greatest Showman, and Bury Me Face Down by grandson.

LAST SONG YOU LISTENED TO?

I’m currently listening to the Spirited Away soundtrack because I’m at work (shhh) and listening to instrumental music because it helps me focus.

HAVE YOU BEEN TO ANY CONCERTS?

I have! My first concert was Hilary Duff way back in the day. I’ve also seen Great Big Sea, All Time Low, Marianas Trench, Simple Plan (the three of them were at the same concert!), Ed Sheeran, Imagine Dragons, the Arkells, and Nightwish. I’m seeing Queens of the Stone Age and Royal blood later this month too!

DO YOU PLAY ANY INSTRUMENTS?

Noooooooo I’m not musically talented at all. I used to take piano and guitar lessons, but I can’t read sheet music for the life of me.

DO YOU PLAY YOUR SONGS ON SHUFFLE OR CHOOSE A PLAYLIST?

Depends on my mood! I have tons of playlists for different moods, but I also like just putting my music on shuffle when I’m bored.

NAME ONE SONG THAT YOU ALWAYS SKIP WHEN IT COMES UP ON SHUFFLE.

Recently, Tonight by FM Static. I love it, but it’s so sad and reminded me of some hard things that have happened recently, so I can’t listen to it.

DO YOU PREFER PLAYING SONGS ON SPEAKER OR LISTENING IN EAR/HEADPHONES?

Both. Obviously I listen with head phones in public (I’m not a monster), but I do love blasting my music at home.

IS THERE ANY POPULARLY LIKED SONG THAT YOU DON’T LIKE?

Blurred Lines by Robin Thicke, I wasn’t a fan for obvious reasons. I’m also not really a fan of most pop music currently, so I don’t really like most of Drake or Ariana Grande or Post Malone’s music (though I do love them both as people and appreciate them as musicians) (and I do like some Post Malone music – he’s super talented).

WHERE DO YOU USUALLY FIND NEW MUSIC? EXAMPLE THROUGH SHUFFLE ONLINE, RECOMMENDATIONS.

One of the main things I like about Spotify is how it gives recommendations on your playlists. I’ve discovered a lot of new music because of that feature.

DO YOU LIKE SONGS BASED ON TUNES/BEATS OR LYRICS?

Generally the tunes/beat rather than lyrics. I do listen to the lyrics, but if I don’t like the actual music, then I can’t listen to a song, no matter how good the lyrics are (unfortunately).

NAME ONE SONG THAT YOU THINK EVERYONE SHOULD LISTEN TO.

Knocking at the Door by the Arkells. I just love it a lot and think they’re such a great band.
