Hello everyone! Just a little update before the post: I made a Twitter! One that’s not for a class at school! So if you want to follow me, feel free to click here!
Anyway, today is the next Top 5 Tuesday! Top 5 Tuesday is a weekly meme created by the lovely Shanah at the Bionic Bookworm. You can visit here for the upcoming topics!
This week’s topic is the opposite of last week, so it’s books I disliked but others loved. Just a fair warning, there are some unpopular opinions ahead.
Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell
This book really just didn’t do it for me. I know so many people who love it, but I couldn’t get into it. It just didn’t click.
All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven
I might venture so far as to say I hate this book maybe. I just hate Finch with a burning, fiery passion. God, he’s the worst. I’m sorry but he IS. Being mentally ill is not an excuse for being an asshole. Sorry.
Caraval by Stephane Garber
I didn’t really dislike this book, but it didn’t live up to my expectations. I enjoyed reading it and it kept my attention, but after I was left unsatisfied. I have a whole review written that I’ll probably post at some point, but I thought the ending was a cop-out and the characters were annoying.
Delirium by Lauren Oliver
This book has such a high rating on Goodreads, but I didn’t like it. I’ve reread it a couple times, thinking maybe I was just too young when I read it the first (and second) time, but no. It just doesn’t work for me.
The Fault in our Stars by John Green
Remember my theory from last week? About how we’re destined to like only one John Green book? Because I wasn’t a fan of TFIoS. I KNOW, I’m sorry. It was fine, there’s nothing wrong with it, but it wasn’t my favourite. I didn’t love it as much as everyone else seemed to.
Again, thanks to Shanah for providing the topics!! Any you agree with me on? Any you disagree about? Let me know!!
Thanks for reading!
I wasn’t blown away by Caraval either. I would give it three stars. Scarlet bothered me, and her sister was underdeveloped. The ending just came out nowhere, and wasn’t satisfying. I’m hoping the story improves in its sequel! Great post! ❤

I think I gave it 2.5(ish) for basically the same reasons you said! Thank you 🙂

I haven’t read any of these, but I’ve got Delirium on my TBR. I’ll get to it eventually, but I’m kinda put off by how many high ratings there are on GR.

I didn’t think it was bad per se, I just don’t think it’s as good as the hype suggests

Oh, got it. I’ve had my share of those kinds of overhyped books.

I totally get that! I thought it was pretty good the first time, but I definitely didn’t click with it the second time around

I share you’re thoughts of Caraval and Delirium. I probably had too high expectations for Caraval before reading it

Same! I’d heard so many good things that I just don’t think it lived up to the hype
