Find more about T5W here! This week is Favourite Science Fiction & Fantasy in Other Media. Sam says “This month’s babbles crossover topic involves our favourite SFF outside of books (like movies, tv shows, games, anime, etc.)” which is super exciting! I love SFF!

Spirited Away, Studio Ghibli

Spirited Away is my all-time favourite movie! I just love it so much. I don’t know if it really fits SFF, but I think it’s fantasy-ish. If you haven’t seen it, I highly recommend it!

Star Trek

Particularly the movies with Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto, but I also enjoy the TV show. The movies are just so fun and I love Chris Pine.

Arrival

Another great movie I highly recommend. It’s about aliens and linguistics, which are two of my favourite things. And I love Amy Adams.

Doctor Who

Especially Nine and Ten. And Amy and Rory and Eleven. Ugh I just love this TV show. I forgot how much I loved it until recently when my friend and I re-watched series 4. It’s so endearingly bad.

Honestly just like space in general?

I just really like space. One time I was at a party and we were playing Most Likely To… and one of them was “most likely to talk about space for four hours” and everyone unanimously voted me, even the people I had just met so idk what that says about me. But space is SO COOL and I could very easily talk about it for hours on end.

  1. Doctor Who is my favorite tv show, but I’m no where near caught up on all the episodes. I tend to love SFF in movies and TV shows but not so much books.

  2. stark trekkk!!!!!!! I’m such a huge fan esp of the classic TV show???? with kirk sitting in his chair doing the kirk pose, and spock bringing him “emotional security” ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ and bones just being sassy af bones?????

  5. I love Spirited Away!! I watched it for the first time when I was in elementary school and I have loved it ever since. And I loved the Star Trek movies! I keep telling myself to get into the tv shows and never do because there are so many different ones. One of these days I’m going to have to marathon a few of the seasons.

      1. Oh yeah, Spirited Away definitely scared me and totally creeped me out as a kid but it was just so good! And I definitely gained a new appreciation for it as an adult. And hopefully can watch some Star Trek in the summer so I can marathon some series.

  7. Yes yes yes to Star Trek and Arrival! I remember before I watched Arrival I was a bit sketpical about all the hype but after finishing it I was blown away with how great a movie it is!
