Learn more about Top Ten Tuesday here! This week is favourite book quotes. This one was harder than I thought because 80% of the highlights on my Kindle are words I don’t know, and I’m really bad about writing down quotes I like. Some of these are social justice-y (shocker) and some are just because I like them.
Also, today I turn 22!!! so I’ve been singing Taylor Swift all day, of course.
“Wherever you go, you take yourself with you.” — the Graveyard Book, Neil Gaiman
“Life is infinitely stranger than anything which the mind of man could invent.” — Sherlock Holmes, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
“We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.” — Elie Wiesel
“If you want to know what a man’s like, take a good look at how he treats his inferiors, not his equals.” — Sirius Black
“The type of man who will be intimidated by me is exactly the type of man I have no interest in.” — We Should All Be Feminists, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
“The enemy is not lipstick.” — the Beauty Myth, Naomi Wolf
“And the rest is rust and stardust.” — Lolita, Vladimir Nabokov
“There was no manly or unwomanly, only what you chose to do.” — Mastiff, Tamora Pierce
“And at the end of the day, you don’t kill someone for opening a car door. If you do, you shouldn’t be a cop.” — The Hate U Give, Angie Thomas
“‘I apologize for shooting you in the leg,’ said Lila. ‘I was myself entirely.’” — A Darker Shade of Magic, V. E. Schwab
Those are some of my favourite quotes! What are yours?
