Tag Tuesday: the #notall Books Tag

Happy Tuesday! I’m currently on reading break and visiting my best friend and family in the Maritimes! So far it’s been great. My friend goes to the university my mom went for undergrad, so she’s been showing me around campus and town and it’s been a lot of fun!

Today was supposed to be the day Rebecca and I posted our discussion about Between the World and Me by Ta-Nehisi Coates but I got called in to work the day we were supposed to do it 😦 so hopefully soon! In the meantime, go read the post she posted about it! Today instead I have a book tag, which was a lot of fun. Thanks to Rebecca for tagging me! It was created by the lovely Orangutan Librarian. They both have great blogs and everyone should go check them out!

#NOTALL COVER CHANGES: A COVER CHANGE YOU LIKED

This is probably the most common answer, but Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins. THANK GOD for this cover change honestly.

#NOTALL ADAPTATIONS: AN ADAPTATION YOU LOVE MORE THAN THE BOOK

Probably the Help by Kathryn Stockett. I really enjoyed the book, but there’s just something about the movie. I think I’ve watched it three times in the last 6 months because it’s just so good.

#NOTALL TROPES: A TROPE YOU’LL NEVER TIRE OF SEEING

The “pretend to date” trope. UGH I love it I’m sorry. Like when there’s two characters pining after each other and for whatever reason they pretend to date or be married or whatever. Just give me ALL OF THEM

#NOTALL INSTALOVE: YOU INSTALOVED THIS INSTACOUPLE

Probably A and Rhiannon from Every Day by David Levithan. It’s 100% Instalove but I just love them.

#NOTALL LOVE TRIANGLES: AN EXAMPLE OF A LOVE TRIANGLE DONE WELL

Honestly I can’t think of any. I’m not the biggest fan of love triangles, so none of them I guess.

#NOTALL PARENTS: BOOKISH PARENTS THAT YOU KNOW, PARENT!

Mr. and Mrs Weasley! They’re the best parents and I love them both.

#NOTALL VILLAINS: A VILLAIN YOU LOVE

There’s one from Red Rising I want to say but it’s not clear they’re a villain so I won’t say who BUT those of you who have read Red Rising KNOW who I’m talking about. I can’t help but love him. HE’S JUST DOING WHAT HE THINKS IS RIGHT HOW CAN WE FAULT HIM.

#NOTALL CHOSEN ONES: A CHOSEN ONE YOU CAN GET BEHIND

Again, totally clichéd but Harry Potter. I just love love love this series so much.

#NOTALL  HYPED BOOKS: A BOOK THAT LIVED UP TO THE ACCLAIM

The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas. I loved it so much and think everyone should read it. To everyone who’s worried about the hype, I promise it’s worth it!

#NOTALL YA ROMANCE: A BOOK YOU’RE NOT KEEN ON FROM YOUR FAVOURITE GENRE

This is so hard because I don’t really have a favourite genre. But a book I thought I’d like more than I did was Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell. When I read it, I would’ve 100% said YA Romance was my favourite genre, and I just didn’t click with this one.

#NOTALL HIGH FANTASY: A BOOK YOU LIKED FROM A GENRE YOU DON’T OFTEN READ

A Game of Thrones by George RR Martin. I don’t read a lot of high fantasy, but I really enjoy this series. The characters and world-building are awesome and it’s not too high fantasy for me.

I’ve seen this tag a lot lately, but if you haven’t done it please do! I love reading people’s answers for it and think it’s a fun tag!

Thanks for reading! xx

  2. Thanks for the shoutout! Glad you did this! And I so agree about that cover for Anna and the French Kiss. Ah I love the pretend to date trope too. And yes to Mr and Mrs Weasley. Yeah Eleanor and Park didn’t click with me either. And I really like Game of thrones too. Loved your answers!
