Top Ten Tuesday February 6: Books That Have Been On My TBR the Longest

Mini life update before we get into the post: I’m DROWNING in paper. If you were to take all the sheets of paper I’ve read and written in the past four days and that I have to read and write in the next two weeks and filled a swimming pool, I could drown. My thesis is due to my copy-editor (aka best friend who’s also a linguistics major) in a couple of weeks and I have two presentations and two other papers and an assignment before then and I’M DYING. I don’t even have results for my thesis yet. I’ve just stared at drugs names and prices for the past four days. They all sound like transformers to me (ex. Afinitor, Entyvio, Inflectra). All the information I need is confidential. Nothing makes sense. #help

So I’ll be a little absent on the blog. Sorry!! I have posts scheduled for a few weeks and I’ll still probably reply to comments and such because I love talking with y’all but I may or may not read your posts until my thesis is written. SORRY THANKS FOR UNDERSTANDING

The Memory Keeper’s Daughter by Kim Edwards

Hmmm this one sounds interesting but also maybe slightly problematic? Has anyone read it? What do you think?

lmao upon reading the reviews, there are some mixed feelings and I found a great comment:

This is one of those books that I always see people reading in parks and on the subway, and I just want to shout at them, “Save yourself! There’s still time to quit reading!”

The Time Traveller’s Wife by Audrey Niffenegger

I think this one was made into a movie? Which is probably why I added it. I can’t decide whether I still find it interesting or not, but I’m also kind of sentimentally attached to it being on my TBR.

Columbine by Dave Cullen

This one is on my TBR for this year, and I’m actually really excited for it! I find true crime super interesting, even though it’s somewhat morbid.

Shanghai Girls by Lisa See

I’ve heard great things about Lisa See and I love historical fiction. Hopefully I can read this one soon!

People of the Book by Geraldine Brooks

I don’t remember why I added this one tbh. I think I recognized the cover and it’s kind of one of those books that everyone has read. It still sounds interesting and I’d love to read it.

Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell

My parents love Malcolm Gladwell, so we have all of his books. They’d just read this one when I was making Goodreads and were telling me about how I should read it, which is why it’s here.

The Face in the Milk Carton by Caroline B. Cooney

I find kidnappings really interesting, as morbid as that is, and there are very few books about them. Which is why I have this one.

Unwind by Neal Shusterman

I thought of deleting this one a while ago, but the premise is SO INTERESTING so I think I’m going to try to read it this year.

The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield

This sounds super interesting. Why are there so many good books!!!!

Lord of the Flies by William Golding

Again, this is one of those books that everyone has read except me. Apparently it sucks, but you should read it so you can discuss why it sucks. Which honestly sounds like something I’d do ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
