Learn more about Top Ten Tuesday here! This week is the best new-to-me authors of 2017. I did ones that weren’t 2017 debuts because I thought that was kind of cheating haha.
Everyone knows I read and loved the Red Rising trilogy this year and loved it. I’m so excited for what he has planned in the next couple of books!
I also read the Shades of Magic trilogy this year and loved it. It was more than I was expecting, and I love Schwab’s writing. I’m looking forward to reading more of her stuff in the future!
I read most of the Beauty Myth this year and I loved it. It’s such an interesting topic, and I really like Wolf’s message.
My love of the Night Circus is no secret. Morgenstern has such an amazing ability to set a scene and make it so atmospheric. I wanted to read about the circus for the rest of my life.
I had mixed feelings about Boy, Snow, Bird, but I overall really enjoyed it, and Oyeyemi’s writing was awesome. She has such a great ability to make voice sound unique and distinct.
Perhaps some of the most heartbreaking sections I read this year were Nao’s sections in a Tale for the Time Being. I absolutely adored Nao and Ozeki’s ability to make us feel for her.
Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
Anyone who knows me knows I am a feminist and activist. I loved We Should All Be Feminists and recommend it to everyone! I love Adichie’s way of explaining feminism in our world, and love her writing.
I think I’ve talked before about how much I love Kaur’s poetry, so she doesn’t need much explanation. But the sun and her flowers was so amazing, and I really connected with it.
I loved the Lost Girls and it was so interesting! I loved Young’s writing and will definitely be looking for more of her books in the future!
I just recently read the Female of the Species and I LOVED it. I’m excited to read more of McGinnis.
Thanks for reading!! Who were your favourite authors of 2017?
