Topics I want to read more of

There are a lot of topics I find super interesting to read about, but never do. Mainly it’s because I don’t like the style a lot of the books are written in. For example, I love mysteries but I don’t like the way a lot of old mystery novels are written.

So here are some topics I want to read more of. If you  have any suggestions, please let me know! I’d be eternally grateful 🙂

Religious cults

I am obsessed with cults. I just find them so interesting. And I’m obsessed with religion. Again, it’s just so interesting. The two of them really just be boiled down to psychology and brainwashing, which is fascinating honestly.

My favourite book from one of my favourite series (Divine Madness from the CHERUB series by Robert Muchamore) deals with a religious cult based on the Moonies. It’s so interesting and I love it so much. But there are almost no novels written about cults and I feel like I’ve read every non-fiction piece I can find!!

Kidnappings

This is a little morbid, but I find kidnappings fascinating. I always have. IDK why. My mom thinks it’s a little weird but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯   Again, there are almost no novels written about kidnappings, and I feel like I’ve read all the Buzzfeed lists about real-life kidnappings.

Boarding school

From the totally morbid to the not morbid. I find boarding schools so interesting, and always kind of wanted to go to one. If you know of any good books that focus on boarding schools, hook me up!!

That’s all for today! Please let me know if you have any recommendations!

Thanks for reading xx

  1. Ah, man! This makes me want to put together a story about a boarding school, that’s actually a religious cult, kidnapping students from competing schools and then… MORE THINGS HAPPEN! Okay, maybe I haven’t figured it all out yet.

  2. Ahhh I love books about Boarding Schools! One of my favourites when I was younger was the naughtiest girl in the school by Enid Blyton! I never read the full series but I absolutely adored the first one!

  3. There’s a section about boarding school in Eddie Izzard’s memoir, BELIEVE ME: A MEMOIR OF LOVE, DEATH, AND JAZZ CHICKENS. The boarding school isn’t the focus of the whole book, but it is a fun section of it.

Do you like fiction or non-fiction about these subjects? I can’t think of any other specific books with these topics, unless you want to talk fantasy novels. And then the list gets larger. But non-fiction… that requires some thought and strong Google-fu.

  4. I am so interested in the first two as well. They are the two things in this world that scare me the most lol. I haven’t read many books about those topics though, just documentaries. I watched the movie based on Natascha Kampusch’s book called 3,096 Days and it gave me nightmares 😬

  5. Hmm you might like Love You More by Lisa Gardner! It’s actually part of a series but can be read as a standalone (which is how I read it). It’s about a woman claiming to have killed her husband in self-defense but her daughter is missing and she isn’t talking. 👀 I really liked it!

  6. I used to be obsessed with religious cults for a very short while.. Have you read The Woman who wore red by Rebecca Musser.. It’s a memoir but it was my first foray into actual cults n quite interesting..
