If you could have dinner with anyone, dead or alive, who would you choose and why?
I would love to meet the Queen, so maybe her. Or the Obamas.
Although recently, my brother didn’t get a job because he used Obama for this answer, so I’ve been rethinking my answer, and I think I would also like to meet either Angie Thomas or Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie.
Have you ever had a nickname? If so, what is it and how did you get it?
Okay so my best friend and I have nicknames for each other. I’m Skvishy and she’s Korbit. It came about during a sleepover like 10 years ago?? (because we’re old) We don’t call each other those normally, but I write it on her birthday card or something. Other than that, most people just call me Ally.
What is one thing about you that someone would be surprised to know?
I go by my middle name. Like Aleksandra is my middle name and that’s what I’ve always gone by.
If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, which one would you choose?
ugghhhhh I hate these types of questions because I’m so indecisive haha. Maybe Walk on the Wild Side by Lou Reed because it’s chill but also you could hype it up if you wanted? And I love it so
What piece of advice would you give your younger self?
It’s okay to be worried about all the dumb things you’re worried about. They’re not dumb and you’re allowed to be worried. But also don’t worry about them too much, okay?
What are your favourite and least favourite colours?
Grey and purple and blue are my favourites. I don’t really have a least favourite, but it would probably be certain shades of green/turquoise. I don’t really like super harsh colours, if that makes sense?
If you starred in a reality TV show about your life, what would it be called?
My brother and I had wanted to turn my old riding barn into a reality TV show and our barn was called Roxbury Showjumping, so we were going call the TV show A Day at the Roxbury (it would’ve made millions, horse people are batshit).
But for my life, it would be something like “she’s eating ice cream again?” because that was my life this past summer.
When was the last time that you were truly, genuinely happy?
Honestly I’m a pretty happy person, and it doesn’t take all that much to make me genuinely happy because I try to embrace life. BUT two days ago (from when I first wrote this post) I saw Ed Sheeran live and he was so good!!!!!! It was one of the best concerts I’ve ever been to and I was so happy and he was so good!!!!
(more recently I saw Imagine Dragons in concert for the second time and they were awesome!!!!!!! I was also very happy then considering how stressful the rest of life has been)
What quote do you live by?
If you want to know what a man’s like, take a good look at how he treats his inferiors, not his equals — Sirius Black
There is tons of room at the top — Margaret Thatcher
I’m tough, I’m ambitious, and I know exactly what I want. If that makes me a bitch, okay — Madonna
We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim — Elie Wiesel
The type of man who will be intimidated by me is exactly the type of man I have no interest in — Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
I am not free while any woman is unfree, even when her shackles are very different from my own — Audre Lorde
The enemy is not lipstick — Naomi Wolf
I’m just really into activism I guess????????
Do you prefer to write in pen or pencil?
What smell reminds you of home?
I don’t really have one? My family never burned candles or had anything really scented, so there’s no specific smell that I associate with home. But I always associate my mom’s perfume with her so, I guess that’s close enough?
Are you into rereading? If so, what are some of your favourite books to reread?
I reread all the time! I generally reread Harry Potter, Anna and the French Kiss, I am the Messenger, the Glass Castle, Life of Pi, basically just all my favourites. I never really got the whole not rereading thing. If I love a book, I will probably keep rereading it until I die.
What was the last book that you added to your Goodreads TBR?
The Address by Fiona Davis.
A book that you think is over-hyped?
Recently of ones I’ve read, One of Us is Lying by Karen M. McManus. I mean, I liked it but I also thought it was super predictable.
What book did you think was better than the movie?
Definitely the fifth Harry Potter. If I could erase any book-to-movie adaptation and redo it, it would definitely be that.
Do you collect anything other than books?
I have a pretty good collection of nerdy t-shirts from Redbubble and ThinkGeek.
Have you always loved reading? If not, when did you discover your love for reading?
I have! Literally since the first day I learned how to read (which I genuinely still remember), I’ve been reading.
Favourite time of day to read?
Definitely at night right before bed or first thing in the morning when I’m still in bed.
A book that you loved but you now hate or don’t think you’ll like anymore?
Okay so I LOVED the Luxe Series by Anna Godbersen when I was in junior high, and the ending of the series is still one of my all-time favourite series endings. But I think if I reread them today, I wouldn’t like them anymore, which is one of the main reasons I haven’t reread them.
Favourite beverage or food to have whilst reading?
Do you read when commuting?
I sometimes do, if it’s the summer and I have a book I’m reading.
And if I remember to bring it with me lol
What is a book that you love but hate the cover of?
Other than the obvious Anna and the French Kiss, I also hate the cover(s) for the Truth About Forever by Sarah Dessen. I’m just not really a fan of having people on covers, and they seem too childish.
My questions for you:
- What book will always get you out of a reading slump?
- What’s your favourite Harry Potter book?
- What’s your favourite movie?
- Tell us something interesting about yourself
- If you HAD to get a tattoo, what would it be? (please no cop-outs, saying something like “a teeny tiny dot on the bottom of my foot.” don’t be a wimp) (alternatively if you have a tattoo, what’s it of?)
- What’s your favourite dog breed?
- If you were an ice cream flavour, what would it be?
- What’s one embarrassing story?
- Who inspires you the most?
- Salty or sweet?
- Can you cook? What’s your favourite thing to cook?
Thanks again to Katie and Annie for the nominations and thank you everyone for reading! Also if you’re not nominated but like these questions, answer them/one of them in the comments! I love reading everybody’s responses
