Find out more about Thursday’s Top 4 here! It’s basically a meme I started mainly for myself, but anyone can participate! Visit this page for the upcoming topics 🙂
This week’s topic is books that haunted you, for Halloween! These are books that you kept thinking of long after you read them.
Morning Star (Red Rising #3) by Pierce Brown
This whole series, really. But the ending blew me away. I read it on a plane and as soon as we landed, I texted my friend Andrew about it. Then gushed about it with him next time I saw him. Then described in detail the ending to my boyfriend (who tbh is never going to read it). It was just amazing.
The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas
I just adored this book and I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it or recommending it. I just feel so passionately about it.
Nothing by Janne Teller
I read this book in high school and immediately bought it for my English teacher. I loved it and still think about it all the time. It’s so creepy and disturbing but I think it’s so important and I highly recommend it.
The Fault in our Stars by John Green
So this one’s a bit different. Honestly, I wasn’t the biggest fan of TFIOS. I read it and thought it was fine, but I wasn’t as blown away as everyone seemed to be. And I kept thinking about it and felt like I’d missed something maybe? But I’ve reread it a couple times since then and still feel the same way. So it haunted me in a weird way?
Thanks for reading! Are there any books you feel “”haunted”” you?
xx
For me, the ending of Golden Son was way more haunting. Don’t get me wrong, Morning Star’s ending was great, but GS left me feeling lost.

My friend Andrew read Golden Son and finished it at like 10:30pm, so all the book stores were closed and he couldn’t get Morning Star haha. He just lay awake the whole night worrying

SMOKE AND MIRRORS by Tanya Huff haunted me in a more Halloween-type way. I lay awake at nights after the first time I read it, afraid of nightmares. I’ve since re-read it, and I don’t have the same issues with it as I did the first time, but it really creeped me out after that first read. (It doesn’t help that it’s essentially about a haunted house and I read the creepiest part at night before bed…)

That sounds super interesting! I’ll definitely add it to my TBR!

I really like it! It is the second in the series, though, so while you could probably read it first there will definitely be spoilers for book 1 if you decide to do it that way.
