Top Five Wednesday: Books Featuring Non-humans

Find more about T5W here! The prompt was our favourite paranormal creatures, but I don’t really read a lot of paranormal books tbh, so I did my favourite non-human characters!

1017 from the Chaos Walking Series by Patrick Ness

1017. How we love to hate to love you.

A from Everyday by David Levithan

Okay I wasn’t sure whether A would count or not, but A is a spirit or a being rather than a human I think? Idk just read this book.

Calcifer from Howl’s Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones

Calcifer is the sassy fire in this book and I love him.

Nimona from Nimona by Noelle Stevenson

She’s not a kid, SHE’S A SHARK

Skullduggery Pleasant from Skullduggery Pleasant by Derek Landy

I mean I think once he was a human, but definitely not anymore. If you want to read a book about a sarcastic skeleton that fights crime, this is the book for you.

What are some of your favourite paranormal or nonhuman characters??

Thanks for reading! xx

  1. LOL, a sarcastic crime-fighting skeleton sounds like a lot of fun! And Calcifer is awesome. Though I need to watch the subtitled version of Howl’s Moving Castle, because while I love Billy Crystal’s work, he doesn’t sound the way I always expected Calcifer to sound.

      1. The subtitled version will be in cinemas next month, so I’m planning to go see it! (This month is Spirited Away. I’m SO EXCITED to see that one with the original voice actors!)
